After practicing and teaching general pediatrics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for more than 40 years and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) for more than 30 years, Dr. Miriam Mills is now available to see private patients for OMT.
A graduate of Yale University and Baylor University’s College of Medicine, Dr. Mills, a board-certified pediatrician (FAAP) moved to Tulsa to teach at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center and serve as the pediatric director. Following the birth of her second child in 1983, she established the Young People’s Clinic. In her 36 years with YPC, she served multiple generations of patients.
While her expansive career in osteopathic treatment has been focused mostly on children, Dr. Mills has also treated adults in a teaching setting for the past 15 years.
We welcome you to benefit from her experience treating both children and adults.
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is a non-invasive, holistic medical service addressing a wide spectrum of medical issues. It is based on the premise that when the body is in good structural integration, it functions better. OMT works on multiple levels to improve the whole body – bones, muscles, connective tissues, circulation, nerves, respiration, organ function – to create balance.
Dr. Mills discovered the benefits of OMT firsthand after she was in a car accident. She sought treatment from a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), who then encouraged her to learn OMT therapy skills that could have life-long benefit s for her own patients. After she began using these techniques in her practice, she noticed immediate changes in babies with colic and improvement for children with recurrent ear infections, respiratory problems and other common issues.
When she began teaching at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, she conducted and published research on her findings while gaining OMT experience with all ages.
Today, Dr. Mills teaches nationally and internationally and has been invited to lecture around the world. She is one of only four MDs in the world to share the distinction of receiving the Fellow of the Cranial Academy Award (FCA).
